Surnames:BARE BARRE BOWER GREEN HILL KORNER TILSON TURNER
Please help!!! I have been trying to find information on a Matilda Ann
BOWER, born in Carey, Ohio on 4 January 1859. Her parents were Samuel
Heisington BOWER and a Mary Willson(maiden name?) HILL. My great aunt
Althea (daughter of Matilda) died a couple of years ago, and before she
died, she told me the story of her mother and family. She stated that
Matilda's mother died in 1859. Her father enlisted into the Ohio 66th
ret't and died in the Battle of Shiloh, or the Pittsburg Landing.
Matilda was left an orphan at the age of four, and then went tolive with
her grandfather Hill and an aunt. Matilda then moved in with a Mr. and
Mrs. Henry BARE (BARRE)of Belle Vernon, Ohio. Mary Willson HILL was born
1 March 1838 in Lake County Ohio. Samuel H. BOWER was born on 4 July
1837 in Canton, Ohio. I have later learned that Samuel deserted from the
army in 1862. (So much for dying a hero!) I just can not find anything
on these people. Matilda BOWER married Rufus S. TURNER on 8 Nov. 1883.
His parents were Harriet TILSON and Alba C. TURNER. They moved to
Ohio where their 5 children were born. Althea was born 29 March 1850 in
Buecrus, Ohio. Laura E. was born in Havana, Ohio on 12 Jan. 12, 1852.
Willis was born on 5 April 1854 and married Kate C. Green and resided in
Carey, Ohio. Ella M. was born on 16 March 1858 and married 4 May 1879
Nelson Korner. Rufus married Matilda 8 November 1883. Any help in
connecting these people to events, etc. would be appreciated. Sincerely,

Surnames:DEEDS DUCHMAN DUKEMAN SPOTTS
I'm researching the DUCHMAN / DUKEMAN family in Wyandot County from
1820's to 1866. Stephen DUCHMAN, b abt 1770 in PA, married Wilhelmena
(unknown) prob abt 1790 prob in PA. He bought land in Tymochtee Township
in the mid 1820's. He sold his land, the last going to son, George, so
he didn't have a will. (Rats.) Wilhelmena died in 1849 and in the 1850
census, Stephen was living with single son, George, and Stephen Jr.'s
family in Tymoch T. Stephen Sr. died shortly after, and both he &
his wife are buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in McCutchenville.
Stephen Jr. married Margaret DEEDS in 1832 and paid taxes on his land
until 1854 when he vanished. George married Margaret SPOTTS in 1851 and
farmed and paid taxes until he sold out in 1866. I can find no later
marriages of DUCHMAN in Wyandot and no others in the cemeteries, so I
conclude that both families left the area and prob the state. Did they
go west?
I would very greatly appreciate any help I could get on this family.
Thanks! Ann

Surnames:MCKAY WICKISER WICKS
Researching WICKISER family from Richland Township. According to the
History of Wyandot County 1884 on April 4, 1835 two pioneers, Conrad
Wickiser and Charles Smith, were out "logging" in the northwest
corner of Section 21, when the chain used in the work happened to break,
and becoming entangled in a spice bush, tore it up by the rotts,
disclosing to their view a soil rich and promising. Thereupon the two
men resolved that the newly created township should receive the name by
which it has since been known. Conrad Wickiser, a native of Baden
Wurteemburg, Germany came to Ohio with his family in 1810, settling in
Perry County from there to Delaware County and 1834 to Richland Township.
He was married to Lydia WICKS. They seem to have a rich history in

Surnames:KLUEBER KUBLER TRAUT
I am search for information on my great-great grandmother.
Here given name was Natalia. The information I have is that she came
from Baden Germany. Natalia married Anton TRAUT 07 Sept 1856 (location
unknown) They had five children, Anna, Amelia (Mildred), Anthony, Henry
and Natalia. Natalia (mother) died in Carey, Wyandot Count on 12 Oct 1867
and was buried in Frenchtown, Wyandot County in St. Nicholas Cemetery.
After her death, Anton farmed all of the children out to family or
friends and left the area. It is known that Anthony and possibly Henry
were raised by the Moos family in Sandusky. Baby Natalia (2 yrs.) was
adopted by someone, possibly by the name of Streif.
I would like to find out Natalia's surname. It may be KLUEBER, KUBLER,
not sure. I have been unable to find any reference to the name, whatever
it may be. Can anyone give me a lead and/or idea as to where to look?
