Sun Apr 18, 1999, 05:28:11
Surnames:BORSTAD COLE DELAWDER FIELDS JOHNSON NELSON
ROBERTS WARD
Mother of the family: Mary A. ROBERTS was her married name & she was
38 years old, head of household on the 1850 Hancock County, OH census)
Mr. ROBERTS is not there in 1850 and Mary A. Roberts has 5 children, John
JOHNSON 17 OH, Susan JOHNSON 12 OH, Allen JOHNSON 8 OH, Mary ROBERTS 5
OH, Fanny E. ROBERTS 3 OH. Fanny E. ROBERTS had been born in Wyandot
County, OH abt 1846 or 1847. Within 11 years after the 1850 census
little Fanny E. ROBERTS married in 1861 in Hancock Co., OH, Mahlon James
WARD and they moved to Fort Wayne, Allen Co., Indiana where their first
child, Zophar John WARD was born in 1862. We are looking for the maiden
name of the mother, Mary A._?_ born in 1812 OH and the first names of her
two husbands who were also probably born about 1812. She m 1st in 1832
Mr. JOHNSON & then m 2 in 1844 m Mr. ROBERTS b NY. Thanks for your
help! Mary Kay COLE WARD of Richmond, Virginia.
Mary Kay COLE WARD,

Surnames:DELAWDER FIELDS JOHNSON NELSON ROBERTS ROGERS WARD
I'm trying to find parents, date of death, etc. for Mary ROGERS b. abt
1812 OH. She might be my husbands ggggrandmother. I've been told to
search in the Muskigum, Hancock and Wyandot counties because the boundary
lines were changed in early days. Mike Creps wrote to me Tues, Apr 20
'99 that he did a little creative searching and found in the LDS-IGI file
a marriage of James JOHNSON to Mary ROGERS 6 Sep 1832 Muskingum, Ohio;
I'll have to do a lot more research to verify facts but this could be a
breakthru. If this James JOHNSON was indeed the husband of my Mary A.
JOHNSON he might have died sometime after their 3rd child, Allen Johnson
was born in 1842 and before his wife, Mary A. JOHNSON married again,
about 1844. That narrows his possible death date to a 2 or 3 year period
[1842, 1843 or 1844] possibly in the Muskigum, Hancock, or
Wyandot Co, Ohio. Of course maybe Mary's husband -whoever he was- just
deserted the family. I need to verify whether the Mary ROGERS who
married James JOHNSON in 1832 Muskigum Co, OH is the same as the
following person I found on the 1850 Wyandot County census.
I found my husband's ggggrandmother, Mary A. ROBERTS 38 yrs old b. OH on
the 1850 Crawford twp, Wyandot Co., Ohio census with 5 children. The
last name for the three oldest children on the census is JOHNSON (John
17, Susan 13 and Allen 11). That means she was married 1st abt 1832 to a
Mr. JOHNSON. ROBERTS is the last name for her two youngest children
on the 1850 census: ie. Mary ROBERTS 5 yrs old and Fanny E. ROBERTS 3 yrs
old. So Mary A. Johnson married 2nd about 1844 a Mr. ROBERTS.
It's exciting to find Fanny E. ROBERTS, my husband's gggrrandmother who
at abt age 15 married an older man, 29 yr old Mahlon James WARD in 1861
in Hancock Co., Ohio. The newlyweds moved to Ft.Wayne, Indiana where
their their first child, Zophar John WARD was b 1862.
I'm not sure if ROGERS is Mary A. JOHNSON ROBERTS maiden name nor am I
sure her 1st husband's name was James JOHNSON. It will take a miracle to
find the first names of Mary A. JOHNSON ROBERTS two husbands:- #1.Mr.
JOHNSON and #2 Mr. ROBERTS. I'm missing so much information! BIRTH
DATES: I'm guessing that both Mr. JOHNSON and Mr. ROBERTS were born
about 1812 (or before) because they were probably at least as old as Mary
A. JOHNSON ROBERTS who was born abt 1812 in OH.
MARRIAGE DATES: Mr. JOHNSON and Mrs. Mary A. JOHNSON married abt 1832
and then Mr. ROBERTS and Mary A. JOHNSON married abt 1844. Her marriages
may have taken place in the Muskigum or Hancock
or Wyandot Co, Ohio. I've done considerable checking in the IGI &
Ancestral LDS files and census records too. I'm searching for ROGERS,
JOHNSON and ROBERTS families on all of the Ohio censuses for
the counties of Muskigum, Hancock and Wyandot from 1800 to 1870 and I'm
looking at the names of their neighbors too, just in case something pops
out at me. Write if you have any ideas. Thanks! Gratefully, Mary Kay
