"Luxembourgers in the New World." Volume One of this new edition is divided into three parts. Part I covers in fairly explicit detail the reasons for the Luxembourger migration between 1840 and 1890 and also discusses how they traveled. Part II talks about Luxembourgers settlements in the US. Especially interesting is the chapter devoted to Ohio settlements including the communities of Kirby, Carey (especially "Our Lady Consoler of the Afflicted"), and Upper Sandusky. In Seneca County the communities of New Reigel, Frenchtown, Alvada, Bascomb and Tiffin are discussed. Part III discusses various aspects of Luxembourger presence in the US. Obituaries and some Old newspapers. Note from Jane: I have obits that I have collected in my own research, I have a lot more from a couple of different sources, one a pile of newspapers from the 1970's that my Dad found in an old summer kitchen, that I went thru and cut out the obits, from Daily Chief Union, Kenton Times. Another, I have two months of issues of the Daily Chief that I got on ebay, Jan and Feb. 1925.
